“A hate crime criminal complaint has been filed with the Valladolid Magistrates’ Courts, supported by audiovisual evidence gathered at the investigation, which was conducted through images and audio clips published in open sources,” it said.

In the statement, the league said it would step up efforts to “eliminate any form of violence, racism or xenophobia inside and outside stadiums”.

“In addition, in stadiums where there is a risk of possible racist behavior in the stands, messages will be broadcast over the public address system and billboards around the pitch to combat and condemn racism.”

Just days before that clash, Vinicius Jr. was told on Spanish TV by football agent Pedro Bravo to stop “acting like a monkey” after taking offense at the Brazilian’s dancing after his goal against Mallorca the previous week.

LaLiga condemned the abuse and vowed to work with police to catch all perpetrators, but a statement was released in early December announcing that a Spanish prosecutor had determined the chants “did not constitute a crime” as they “It only lasted a few seconds”. happened in an atmosphere of “maximum rivalry”.
