Leeds are hoping for striker Georginio Rutter today in a club-record £30million deal from Hoffenheim

Leeds United are hoping to finalize talks with Hoffenheim over a £30m deal for Georginio Rutter on Wednesday in what will be a club record.

Elland Road’s side are in ongoing negotiations with the Bundesliga side over the striker in a bid to improve their own attacking options.

The 20-year-old France Under-21 international is keen to make the move and wants to get to Leeds as soon as possible for a medical.

As previously mentioned, Hoffenheim were pushing for around £35m including add-ons – hence the lengthy discussions. But even at a lower price, it will still beat the record £27million fee Leeds paid for Valencia’s Rodrigo.

Rutter has scored twice in 17 games for the Bundesliga side in all competitions this season.

Rutter was absent from Hoffenheim’s last mid-season friendlies and when he discussed the situation, their director of football, Alexander Rosen, hinted at his imminent departure.

“Ultimately we have to decide what’s best for Hoffenheim under the circumstances,” he said.

“It is also important to include the thoughts of Georginio and those around him, because after all we are not talking about a piece of furniture here, but about the future of a young person.”

Elsewhere, Leeds are looking to recall Charlie Creswell from his loan at Millwall.

The 20-year-old is keen to take part and hopes to arrive in Leeds as soon as possible
