Leicester are eyeing Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez in January

Leicester City have made a request for Fiorentina left winger Nico Gonzalez from Argentina.

The 24-year-old is available for £30million with the Serie A side poised to cash in this January transfer window.

Primarily a left winger, Gonzalez can play in a variety of roles – at right flank or as a centre-forward – and would bring tactical flexibility to Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers.

Gonzalez would also have been part of Argentina’s 26-man winning squad in Qatar, having been initially selected before being forced to retire from training camp through injury.

Injuries have also plagued the winger this season, reducing him to just 11 games – although he has scored five goals in those games.

Gonzalez, who arrived from Stuttgart in the summer of 2021, enjoyed a superb debut season at Fiorentina – scoring eight goals and providing nine assists in 39 games in Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
