Leonardo DiCaprio is no stranger to going the extra mile in his film appearances, but a scene in Killers of the Flower Moon resulted in him wearing a fake butt.

In one of the most shocking scenes of Killers of the Flower Moon, Robert De Niro’s William Hale actually beats up his nephew, Leo DiCaprio’s Ernest Burkhart.

Cameraman Rodrigo Pietro revealed this in a new interview insider that the scene was not in the original script and that Leo had some “padding.”

The scene occurs when Burkhart botches part of Hale’s overarching plan to gain control of the oil reserves on the Osage Nation’s land.

When Burkhart meets with Hale to discuss his mistake, they meet in a back room where Hale shockingly beats his adult nephew with a wooden paddle.

“I don’t think that was in the first script. “That was added, and that’s shocking in the film,” Pietro said.

The paddling also did not appear in the 2017 book by David Grann on which the film is based, and there is no indication that such a beating ever took place in real life.

“I remember doing them a few times and thinking, ‘Oh, that must hurt,'” Prieto said.

He added: “There was some padding in place.” [DiCaprio’s] Butt. But you could tell that De Niro really nailed him. Leo is up for so much. He will do anything.’

DiCaprio proved that last statement when he went above and beyond the call of duty for The Revenant and won his first and long-awaited Oscar.

The actor plays a frontiersman presumed dead in the 1820s and his incredible story of survival.

In one scene, DiCaprio’s Hugh Glass ate raw bison liver to survive, even though he originally wanted to eat an artificial liver made from protein bars.

Clay Landry, who served as the film’s historical and technical wilderness advisor, revealed that things changed just days before filming.
