- Salvato has a reputation for orchestrating massive transactions at Liberty
Andrea Salvato, chief development officer at telecommunications giant Liberty Global, has emerged as a possible successor to Vodafone boss Nick Read.
City sources pit him alongside likely candidates including ex-EE boss Olaf Swantee and Stephen Carter, head of exhibition promoter Informa.
Salvato, 52, is one of the top dealmakers at Liberty, an Anglo-Dutch-American conglomerate.

Looking ahead: The appointment of Andrea Salvato would send a clear signal that Vodafone is big business
He previously worked in the investment banking division of JP Morgan Chase, joined Liberty in 2005 and has been in his current role since 2012.
He has a reputation for orchestrating massive transactions at Liberty.
His appointment would send a clear signal that Vodafone is aiming for big deals, something investors have been calling for.
“If Salvato is in frame, it clearly represents a declaration of intent to get business across the line,” said telecoms analyst Paolo Pescatore.
