Lily-Rose Depp’s tiny bra, chain smoking and creepy talk in ‘The Idol’ mocked by Chloe Fineman

HBO’s “The Idol” debuted Sunday after a string of controversy, but before the second episode aired, “Saturday Night Live” star Chloe Fineman poked fun at star Lily-Rose Depp’s performance.
Depp, 24, plays actress and pop star Jocelyn, whose career is at a crossroads after an incident on her last tour and the death of her mother, before she meets the mysterious Tedros (The Weeknd) on the series, which debuted to just 913,000 viewers .
The 34-year-old Fineman, best known for her celebrity impressions of stars like Meryl Streep, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and many others, shared a video of her impressions of Depp on Instagram on Thursday.
“My audition for THE IDOL (must have been lost in the post) @TheIdol (@lilyrose_depp is a GODDESS of talent)” Fineman said in the caption.
Depp himself was a fan of the video, commenting, “I’m laughing… and your makeup looks gorgeous,” to which Fineman responded with two heart emojis, “Obsessed with you.”

The video begins with Fineman – who wears a black bra backwards and smokes a thin cigarette – asking, “Does my song suck?”
“Music should sound like ass or shit,” she added, now smoking a handful of cigarettes.
She added, “Anyway, I met this guy last night, his name is Tedros.” “He was dressed like a bat cloak but I think he’ll happily change my career,” he referenced the character by The Weeknd in the series.
The video then pokes fun at the final scene of the premiere of “The Idol” — in which Tedros puts a red sash across Jocelyn’s face and tells her, “Sing how you can fuck.”
Fineman then sings Cher’s Believe, while in the next shot with a handful of cigarettes, Fineman says again, ‘Music should be like poly or bi. Music shouldn’t have gender, it just sucks, you know.’
The next shot shows her with the sash in front of her face singing “Pocket Full Of Sunshine” by Natasha Bedingfield.
Then, with a fistful of cigarettes, she asks, “Is my song shit?” “‘Music was supposed to be f**k’,” before watching Jewel’s Hands sing.
Fineman then says to the camera, “Come on, let’s rehearse the dance for my song I hate” while starting to dance with a cigarette.

She later says, “It’s so hard,” before putting on her sunglasses and finally saying, “By the way, I was in a mental institution.”
The Idol premiere ratings were 913,000 viewers a 17% drop from the series premiere of The Idol co-creator Sam Levinson’s critically acclaimed HBO series Euphoria in 2019, which attracted 1.1 million viewers.
It’s also worth noting that when Euphoria premiered in June 2019, HBO Max was yet to debut. The 1.1 million viewers were counted across cable linear broadcasts and on-demand broadcasts on HBO Go and HBO Now.
The remainder of Euphoria’s first season averaged 1.2 million viewers per episode, which The Idol could theoretically surpass if viewership averages continue to improve over the course of the six-episode season.
