The BBC’s coverage of Liverpool’s FA Cup replay at Wolves was embarrassingly interrupted by loud porn noise.

The broadcaster stopped for an interview with Jurgen Klopp before the game, but after returning to the studio the noise started again.

Host Gary Lineker saw the funny side when he quipped, “Would you stop making those noises Danny,” directing his joke to expert Danny Murphy.

After more than 10 minutes of background noise, Lineker was relieved to hand over to the station’s commentary team before kick-off.

Shortly after the game started, Lineker tweeted to confirm he’d finally figured out where the noise was coming from.

“Well we found this on the back of the set,” Lineker wrote alongside a picture of a cell phone.

“As far as sabotage goes, it was pretty amusing.”

Fans couldn’t help but laugh at the BBC’s misfortune, with one supporter joking that anyone would face sacking after the incident.

“Someone at the BBC is losing their job,” they joked.

Another added: “BBC MOTD has a mare,” as the noises continued.

“Crinkled as someone at the BBC was getting through with the porn sound,” another fan wrote, along with a set of smiley face emojis.

The porn noises in the studio were just the beginning of a nightmare start to the evening at Molineux, as there was also a power outage in the early stages of the game, meaning VAR wasn’t used for the first 16 minutes.

One fan poked fun at how bad things had gone before and during the game.

“Porn on the BBC. Shearer said it was Danny Murphy’s cell phone. Power failure at Molineux. VAR broke due to the power outage.

“The magic of the cup,” they teased.
