Lizzo performs at the 2023 Governors Ball music festival in New York City despite the “unhealthy” air

Lizzo put on a rousing performance at the 2023 Governors Ball Music Festival on Friday at Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens, New York City.
She managed to get to the end of her set despite the absolutely terrible air quality in New York City, which has come under fire from the smoke from hundreds of Canadian wildfires that have ravaged much of the American Northeast.
Other festival headliners include Kendrick Lamar and Odesza, with additional performances from Ice Spice, Diplo, Lil Nas X, Haim, Rina Sawayama, Pusha T, Snail Mail, Lil Uzi Vert, Giveon, Lil Baby, PinkPantheress, Black Midi, and Syd , among other things.
The 35-year-old “About Damn Time” hitmaker – who recently sported her super-short “Beyoncé” bangs for her special tour – wore a bright pink wig and sparkly silver jumpsuit with a high slit down the leg.
She was flanked by four backup dancers wearing pink wigs and racy silver outfits.

Ahead of Governors Ball, a three-day outdoor music festival, organizers took steps to closely monitor air quality with the help of weather experts.
Officials said they were in constant communication with the city to ensure all attendees were safe as smoke from more than 400 Canadian wildfires continues to blow south.
New York City’s air quality is currently among the worst in the world, according to Mayor Eric Adams. He warned people in the city to stay home and said the pollution was “very unhealthy”.
Lizzo’s performance comes in the middle of the Special Tour, which started last September.
Her series of shows was intended to support her recently released album, Special.
The LP, which peaked at number two on the US Billboard 200 chart, was released in July last year and received generally positive reviews from critics.
The artist kicked off her tour with a sold-out performance at the FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida.
Lizzo was joined by acts such as Latto, Saucy Santana and Bree Runway throughout her tour, which included several European dates throughout February and March.

However, the singer’s tour was not without its difficulties, having previously canceled her planned stay in Montreal after suffering flu-like symptoms.
Lizzo subsequently had to cancel her scheduled show in Hartford, Connecticut and released a video to let her fans know she was suffering from a sore throat. The performances have been postponed to June 11 and 13 respectively.
Her tour concludes with a performance at the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan on July 30th.
