A man is fighting for his life after he was shot dead by police in Logan Central, south of Brisbane, on Wednesday.

Queensland Police said the 40-year-old man was being treated by paramedics for life-threatening injuries.

The man was shot dead by officers in an incident on Croydon Road and police are investigating.

Footage from the crime scene showed rescue workers desperately trying to save the man.

Social media videos showed that about a dozen police officers were at the scene.
