Passengers traveling on the London Underground partially undressed today to celebrate the no-pants Tube ride, which returned to the capital today for the first time since the pandemic broke out in March 2020.
Hundreds of Sunday travelers joined the no-pants fun that began 20 years ago on the other side of the Atlantic in New York.
The Elizabeth Line, which opened last year, welcomed its first pantyless passengers, with hundreds of people traveling in their underwear to the annual event that began in New York two decades ago.
At the event, organized by the Stiff Upper Lip Society, people wore smart office attire on the upper half and only underwear, shoes and socks on the lower half of their bodies.
The event is part of the global No Pants Subway Ride, which began in New York in 2002 and has since expanded to more than 60 cities around the world.
The whimsical tradition was started in 2002 by Improv Everywhere, a comedy performance art group, in New York City.
“The mission started as a little prank with seven guys and has grown into an international celebration of stupidity, with dozens of cities around the world taking part each year,” reads the Improv Everywhere website.
Photos taken during the flashy event show people casually riding subways and indifferently taking off their pants.

“As soon as the doors close at the stop in front of yours, get up and take off your pants and put them in your backpack,” the group says.
“If someone asks you why you took off your pants, tell them they got ‘awkward’ (or something like that).
