Man City teenager Liam Delap will join Preston on loan for the rest of the season

Man City teenager Liam Delap joins Preston for the remainder of the season as the miserable spell at Stoke comes to an end – after the youngster has scored just THREE goals in 22 games
Preston North End have confirmed 19-year-old forward Liam Delap is on loan from Manchester City until the end of the season.
Delap spent the first half of the 2022-23 season on loan at Stoke City, scoring just three goals in 22 games for the Championship side.
Delap was later recalled by his parent club City but will now join Ryan Lowe’s side until the end of the season.

After signing, Delap said, “I’m buzzing. It’s such a great club and I’m really looking forward to meeting the lads and playing in front of the fans.
“As a striker, at the end of the day the coach wants goals, that’s what he told me. I trust myself in front of the gate.
The striker concluded: “I’m confident that I can get into the right positions, so if I get the chance I hope I can take it.”

The 19-year-old star joined Stoke on loan from the Premier League champions in the summer
The youngster joined Manchester City from Derby County in July 2019 and landed his first professional contract a year later.
Delap looked like a promising young talent – he scored on his debut as a senior in the Carabao Cup against AFC Bournemouth.
Delap was also named Premier League 2 Player of the Year after scoring 24 goals in 20 games.
However, his progress faltered and the number of opportunities he was given dwindled. As a result, he was loaned out.
Delap’s loan spell at Stoke was a little underwhelming. He has only scored three goals in 22 appearances for the club.
As a result, the 23-year-old Manchester City forward has been recalled to explore other potential loan options.

Preston North End manager Ryan Lowe (pictured above) is delighted to sign Delap, saying: “He’s a good boy, a good footballer and a goalscorer.”
So far, Delap has only played six times for his home club. He is yet to play for Pep Guardiola’s side in the Premier League.
However, Preston North End manager Lowe is delighted to sign Delap, saying “he’s a good boy, a good footballer and a goalscorer”.
Speaking of Delap’s arrival, Lowe said: “Liam was someone we targeted over the summer for the work he had done with City’s U23s and he had some impact in the first team too with a couple of goals.
“He’s a good boy, a good footballer and a goalscorer. He just needs a chance to score goals and hopefully we can give him that.
“Of course we will manage without Emil [Riis] been around for a long time too, so we felt like we needed to bring an extra body into the building to continue the form we had.’
