Man United FINALLY break their silence on Antony’s domestic violence allegations, insisting they “take the matter seriously” and claiming he threatened his ex while she was pregnant, damaged her breast implants and cut her finger

Manchester United have broken their silence after domestic violence allegations were leveled against Antony and the striker is the subject of a police investigation.

The 23-year-old winger was dropped from the Brazil squad on Monday night, just days after Mason left Greenwood United on loan to Getafe following a six-month investigation into the club.

Antony has denied claims by his ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin that he assaulted her while she was pregnant, damaged her breast implant, cut her finger with a glass and threatened to throw her out of a speeding car.

United issued a statement confirming the club are aware of the allegations against the 23-year-old.

“Manchester United acknowledge the allegations made against Antony and note that the police are conducting an investigation,” the club said in a statement.

“Until further information is available, the club will not be making any further comments.

“As an association, we take this matter seriously and consider the impact these allegations and subsequent reporting will have on survivors of the abuse.”

Antony had released a statement in June saying he had been falsely accused of domestic violence by his former girlfriend.

The Brazilian recently admitted in a statement that his relationship with his former partner had been “tempestuous”, but stressed that he “never committed physical aggression”.

Man United were under pressure to act after renewed domestic violence following Greenwood’s departure.

The club ruled the 21-year-old could no longer play for them after being banned for 18 months on allegations of attempted rape and assault, although prosecutors dropped all charges in February. Greenwood denies the claims.

Female Fans Against Greenwood’s Return, who had opposed the possibility of him wearing the United shirt again, responded to his former partner’s allegations against Antony and urged clubs to do more to address the issue.
