With Saturday’s win, City were able to come back from a 2-0 deficit and defeat the Japanese champions. The Stones narrowly converted from the box before Julian Alvarez equalized.
City made ten changes at half-time and it was Erling Haaland who scored two more goals alongside a Rodri striker, allowing the Premier League champions to emerge victorious in the end.
The game saw £25million new signing Kovacic play in a City shirt for the first time, while Joao Concelo made his first appearance for the club since his falling out with Guardiola in January.
Kyle Walker captained the side although his future at the club is still unclear. The England defender is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich and the two clubs are set to discuss a deal in the coming days that could see Walker sign a £13m move to the German giants.
