Manchester United are interested in signing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich

Manchester United are interested in signing Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich and are inquiring about Frankfurt’s Daichi Kamada, but Erik ten Hag faces a race against time to cover for the injured Christian Eriksen
Manchester United are keen to move disgraced midfielder Marcel Sabitzer from Bayern Munich on deadline day – but face a race against time to seal the deal.
The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their midfield after losing Christian Eriksen to injury for the next three months and Austria international Sabitzer has emerged as a target as the 28-year-old looks for more playing time.
Sabitzer has been frozen at the Allianz Arena this season and has not started a game since the World Cup in early November – during the 2-0 Champions League win over Inter Milan.

The Austrian national player fought for a starting place under Julian Nagelsmann (R).
Sabitzer would improve Erik ten Hag’s midfield alongside the likes of Casemiro, Scott McTominay, Fred and Bruno Fernandes but time is running out to finalize the deal with just hours left before the transfer window hits.
Since joining Bayern in 2021, he has made 54 appearances, scoring twice and struggling to nail regular first-team football.
Sabitzer only started eight times in the Bundesliga last season and came off the bench 17 times – one goal and one assist. Between 2014 and 2021, he made his mark at RB Leipzig with some impressive performances.
He made 229 appearances with Red Bull’s own team, scoring 52 goals, before making a £14million move to Bayern.

Japan international Daichi Kamada is also an option as United make a request to Frankfurt
The Red Devils have also asked Eintracht Frankfurt about Japanese international Daichi Kamada
The 26-year-old midfielder made his debut for Japan against Germany at the World Cup and has scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga this season. Kamada is out of contract in the summer
Meanwhile, United have been offered the opportunity to sign Yannick Carrasco from Atletico Madrid as they seek reinforcements following Eriksen’s fitness blow.
Eriksen picked up an ankle injury after a fierce challenge from Andy Carroll in United’s 3-1 win over Reading on Saturday and will be out for three months.

Ten Hag was asked if he could sign a replacement for Eriksen during his Tuesday press conference ahead of Wednesday’s Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Nottingham Forest, but admitted it will be difficult to sign anyone before the transfer window closes .
“It’s difficult on the deadline. You can’t do politics with injuries that bad, but we have players in midfield, good players. We have players who can fill the gap,” said Ten Hag.
“I think you can never fill that (gap) because every player has their own characteristics and identity.

Christian Eriksen is out for three months with an ankle injury sustained in a hit against United

Erik ten Hag believes it will be difficult to sign a replacement for Eriksen on deadline day
“Another player will always step in differently, but that doesn’t mean you have to be any less successful.”
Eriksen and Carrasco are widely regarded as different players, with the former operating almost exclusively in central midfield alongside Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes since arriving at Old Trafford last summer, while Carrasco plays more on the flank.
Carrasco has shown his versatility over the years by playing a more central role at times and with United facing a busy second half of the season as they continue to play in four different competitions they could see him as a useful option in their squad.
Ten Hag have Fred and Scott McTominay as substitutes for Eriksen but could look to bring in an extra squad to help his side with their crowded fixture list before Tuesday’s 11pm deadline.
