Marjorie Taylor Greene defends calling Biden a ‘liar’

Rep. Majorie Taylor Greene said she was “not a bit sorry” for calling Joe Biden a “liar” during his State of the Union addresses, adding that the President “got exactly what he deserved”.

Greene showed no remorse for her actions, although she was criticized on social media for disrupting the president’s annual address.

“People are upset,” she told CNN on Wednesday. “He got exactly what he deserved. And I’m not sorry at all.”

She again accused Biden of lying about the economy and the border. Republicans were furious Tuesday night when Biden’s remarks accused the GOP of wanting to “sink” Medicare and Social Security.

The president was referring to a plan by Republican Senator Rick Scott to automatically expire laws unless renewed, which Democrats say would include Medicare and Social Security.

Speaker Kevin McCarthy earlier Tuesday pleaded with Republicans to behave during the president’s remarks.

When Republicans began shouting “secure the border” at Biden during the speech, McCarthy silenced them from his seat on the House slide.

But Greene said she doesn’t think the announcer was upset about the interference.

“I don’t think Speaker McCarthy is upset with any of us for voicing his views and unwilling to allow the President to lie. What am I supposed to do, stand up and give golf claps? No thank you. I don’t gossip for liars,’ she said.

She’s not the only Republican stepping up her attacks on the President.

Scott, the Republican Senator from Florida, is running a new ad in his state urging Biden to leave office.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy accused Biden of making outrageous claims about Republicans’ plans for these Social Spending programs as a “political ploy” to “goad” a response from GOP lawmakers.

After spending much of his State of the Union address Tuesday night announcing that he had rebuilt the economy and suppressed inflation in the wake of the pandemic, Biden hit a sore point when he claimed Republicans want “the economy as a Taking hostage”.

Polls show that most Americans feel worse off financially and that the economy is in worse shape because of Biden’s policies.

Scott also said in his ad that Biden is lying about Republicans wanting to cut those programs while shirking his own responsibilities.

“Joe Biden just cut $280 billion from Medicare and we know about his 80,000 new IRS agents,” Scott said in his 30-second ad while donning a NAVY hat. “But what you don’t know is that Joe Biden also cheated on his taxes and got away with it.”

“Biden abused a loophole to avoid half a million dollars in taxes that should have gone to Medicare. Now that Biden has ripped off Medicare for $500,000, he wants to close the gap and raise your taxes,” he added.

“I’m Rick Scott, Biden should resign,” the Republican senator concluded.

Scott posted the clip to Twitter on Tuesday with the caption, “My advert here tomorrow to welcome Joe to FL – he’s a tax dodger and needs to resign.”

He repeated the same message when speaking to the media after Tuesday night’s State of the Union address, claiming it was time for the president to resign.

During Biden’s remarks before a joint session of Congress, he targeted Republicans for the debt ceiling negotiations and their proposals for the economy. Many felt his comments should elicit a big Republican reaction, which he deserved.

“Some of my Republican friends want to hold the economy hostage, I understand, unless I agree with their economic plans,” the president said during his speech. “All you should know back home are the plans — instead of getting the rich to pay their fair share, some Republicans want Medicare and Social Security to go under.”

“I’m not saying it’s a majority,” he added, as some lawmakers began to boo.

Republicans cried out while others, like Colorado Rep. Lauren Boebert, frowned and shook their heads in disapproval.

Rep. Ronny Jackson, once the White House doctor, tweeted: “Tonight the State of the Union was ALL LIES! EVERYTHING has gotten worse under Biden.’

“If he REALLY cared about the state of our country, he would resign IMMEDIATELY!!” said the Texas congressman.
