Meet my English teammates! Coffee lover Alex Greenwood has an incredible left foot, hyperactive Lucy Bronze is a true warrior and Keira Walsh is the best midfielder in the world

England will play Spain in their first World Cup final on Sunday and the country will be watching.

Sarina Wiegman’s team would like to become only the third women’s team to host the European and World Championships at the same time and take their undisputed place at the top of the world.

It won’t be an easy game. Spain are an exciting side with ambitions of their own and will be looking to beat the Lionesses in their first final ever.

But Wiegman will be readying her team for the game when they take to the pitch in front of the nation in Sydney.

Former England captain Steph Houghton introduces the readers to her England team-mates ahead of the game.

Mary Earps

Great shot stopper, really good distribution. Has been dominant in the last two tournaments. Off the field, Mary is really lively and quite chilled.

Lucy Bronze

Absolute winner. Warrior. Leads with their performances. Off the pitch I think she would agree that she’s a little bit different. She’s just a little weird. When everyone is chilling, she will be the one who is really hyper.

Alex Greenwood

Technician, incredible left foot. Good in one-on-one situations. Loves her coffee and loves to keep fit. She is an incredible person. No matter where we go, whether there is an away game or we are in Manchester, she will always ask us to go for a coffee.

Millie Bright

Dominant, courageous, she wears her heart on her sleeve and puts her body at risk. Off the field, she’s a real hit! Really faithful and really bubbly. When she and Rachel Daly are together, no one gets a say. She always brings the energy and isn’t shy about speaking her feelings, which every team needs.

Jess Carter

Jess has improved season after season. She is so versatile and deceptively fast. She never gets beaten and when she plays at full-back she can come forward and cause problems. Off the field she has the greatest laugh ever. I can’t even explain how it sounds. Rachel Daly

The WSL’s top scorer doesn’t do badly as a left-back! Versatile, sporty, gives everything. Off the field she is so funny, really sharp and witty. She is a lovable character. If you ever need someone to cheer you up, go to Rachel. A proper Yorkie, with an accent. She’s a big Leeds fan.

Keira Walsh

In my opinion she is the best midfielder in the world. As a No. 6, her distribution, everything on the ball is excellent, but her understanding of the game and her organizational skills are really important. She sees things that others don’t see. Once you get to know her she is so funny.

Georgia Stanway

Bulldozer! Loves a tackle. She will be the mainstay of this England side for years to come. You and Keira Walsh are fat as thieves. They feed each other and make jokes. She’s a real Barrow girl.

Ella Toone

She is so creative. Technically, sometimes you don’t even see how good she is. In my opinion she will eventually be one of the best #10s. She can pass and shoot. She thrives in the big games. Tooney is a real Manc.

Alessia Russo

I appreciate her very much. She brings movement, speed and goals with her. She’s really effective in the last third. So grounded. She always wants to learn and put the team first. She will continue to grow.

Lauren Hemp

speedster. Hemp. In the last games she was one of the best of the tournament. She has a little bit of everything and can run faster with the ball on her feet than I can without the ball! She can be quiet, but in one-to-one conversations she is very curious. She loves to learn about other people and their lives.

LJ will be a superstar. We saw that in the games she played. She makes football look easy, whether she’s playing on the touchline or as a number 10. She grabs the game by the neck. She can be calm which is crazy when you see how she is on the pitch. A lot of the youngsters are very down to earth and she definitely is.

Chloe Kelly

I love Chloe – I think she’s my favorite player. She loves soccer and will do anything to win. She brings the swagger! She just wants to improve and be the best and we see that in training every day. She is so caring and has been a great friend of mine for ages. QPR fan.
