As Meghan Markle flew to Germany today, she appeared to give a subtle nod to the Queen and chose to carry one of the late monarch’s favorite scarves in her bag.
The 42-year-old Duchess of Sussex carried the £1,000 Hermes Brides de Gala scarf in her bag as she boarded the plane in Los Angeles that would take her to the Invictus Games in Düsseldorf.
The scarf, which shows two reins side by side, was worn by Her Majesty on various occasions.
The monarch owned the scarf in various colors and wore it to her Diamond Jubilee in 2012 and to the Royal Windsor Horse Show in 1982.
While the Queen’s scarf was dark blue, Meghan appeared to opt for a more modern version in two shades of gray and blue.

Meghan opted for a decidedly casual look as she checked in for her flight to London at LAX airport in Los Angeles on Monday night – but still managed to wear some serious couture, including a $26,000 Cartier watch.
The Duchess opted for the sailor-style Polina wide-leg pants by Ulla Johnson and a matching navy V-neck sweater, $773.
Flats were the name of the game, and the mother of two, traveling to the California airport with helpers, slipped on a popular pair of $770 Valentino Roman Stud mules in ivory calfskin.
However, it was the accessories that stole the fashion show in this particular ensemble, with Meghan, 42, wearing a $2,650 Goyard “St. Louis PM’ shopping bag containing the designer scarf.
The Brides de Gala scarf is Hermès’ best-selling scarf of all time and one of Hermès’ most iconic designs.
It was first designed in 1957 when Robert Dumas collaborated with designer Hugo Grygkar.
According to the Hermes website, he placed two “magnificent” bridles on the ground side by side and was immediately impressed by the perfect composition they formed, and the scarf design was born.
In Meghan’s scarf, a reinterpretation of the original, One of the two bridles has been redrawn to give the impression of the gluing and sewing technique used by the house’s leather artisans. The scarf is made from a blend of cashmere and silk.
