Megyn Kelly slams ‘banal’ Karine Jean-Pierre’s sycophantic Vogue profile, calling her ‘the worst White House press secretary ever’: ‘You’d think she was like the First Lady… the way she was gave her the royal treatment.”

Megyn Kelly described Karine Jean-Pierre as the “worst White House press secretary ever,” mocked her “trivial answers” and mocked a sycophantic profile of Jean-Pierre in Vogue.

Jean-Pierre, 49, is the first black person to serve as White House press secretary and also the first openly gay person.

Jill Biden praised her to Vogue as a “game-changing White House press secretary,” adding that she “brings grace, integrity and insight to the podium” and calling her “calm, quiet confidence” inspiring.

But Kelly used her podcast to laugh at her description of her.

“You would think she was like the first lady or a prime minister, the way they gave her some kind of royal treatment,” Kelly said.

“And they covered for her like she was our true next leader who will rhetorically lead us into the next season.”

“She has to be the worst White House press secretary ever.” And I include Sean Spicer.’

Jean-Pierre is accused of relying too much on prepared answers and notes that she carries around in a folder.

Vogue writer Mattie Kahn writes: “Some in the press have complained that Jean-Pierre reads too much from her folder – that she seems rehearsed.”

“That’s because she’s rehearsing. In preparation, she selects adjectives and verbs with great care.”

Jean-Pierre told the magazine that she insisted she would never speak at the podium in person.

“I signed up to speak on behalf of this president. That’s why he chose me,” she said.

Kelly showered Jean-Pierre’s actions with contempt.

“That she’s up there rehearsing these banal answers and supposedly choosing her adjectives and verbs with great care,” Kelly said.

Kelly said Jean-Pierre, the daughter of Haitian immigrants and a single mother of a nine-year-old adopted daughter, Soleil, was in the role solely because of her identity.

“That’s why she’s there, the first-ever black and lesbian White House press secretary — because we absolutely had to check those boxes,” Kelly said.

“She lies, they all do, but she lies every other day about Hunter Biden.” She never answers the question, there is no integrity and certainly no insight that she has conveyed since taking office.

Jean-Pierre told Vogue that personal attacks are part of her job and she doesn’t take them to heart.

“I don’t take any of it personally,” she said.

“I represent the president, so pettiness is simply not on the menu.”

However, some Democrats told Vogue they felt there were problems with messaging.

Despite the Biden White House’s achievements on infrastructure, the economy, climate change and drug prices, his approval ratings remain stubbornly low.

“A media reporter who covered Jean-Pierre’s time in office told me that Democratic officials were also critical,” Kahn writes.

“The public needs to understand what the administration has accomplished,” the reporter emphasizes, “and if there is no one really capable of selling its message, that hurts the White House.”

Jean-Pierre has been press secretary since May 2022 – she wakes up at 5 a.m., sits at her desk by 7 a.m. and spends time with her daughter whenever she can.

Jean-Pierre revealed to Vogue that she and her partner, former CNN national correspondent Suzanne Malveaux, recently separated after living together for 10 years.

She said she knew she wouldn’t keep the role forever, but gave no indication of when she would leave or what she would do next.

Her predecessor, Jen Psaki, served for two years and then left to take an anchor role at MSNBC.

Previously, Trump’s last two press secretaries – Kayleigh McEnany and Stephanie Grisham – were in office for just nine months; Grisham famously refused to hold a single press conference for the first time in history.

Vogue gave Jean-Pierre as glowing a cover in its September issue as it did other government officials, including first lady Jill Biden and former White House press secretary Jen Psaki.

Kamala Harris appeared on the cover in 2021.

Michelle Obama appeared on the cover three times, but none of the Trump officials were ever there – to the annoyance of Melania Trump.

“They are biased and have likes and dislikes, and it’s so obvious,” Melania told Fox News after leaving the White House.

“And I think the American people and everyone sees it, and I have much more important things to do – and I did that in the White House – than being on the cover of Vogue.”
