Michael Clarke jokes about getting ‘smarter’ as he celebrates his birthday

Michael Clarke has celebrated a low-key birthday with daughter Kelsey-Lee, seven, following his headline-grabbing Noosa brawl.

The retired batsman, who turned 42 on Sunday, joked that he has become “wiser” this year after the high-profile riots.

Michael sat next to a cake in his multi-million dollar Sydney home and got a little help from his daughter blowing out the candles.

“Another year older and hopefully a little wiser,” he began.

“Thank you for making KL (Kelsey-Lee) a very special day. I love you baby.’

Clarke’s public falling out at a park in Noosa with his girlfriend Jade Yarbrough was arguably the most talked about news story of January.

Wild footage of the January 10 Stoush was filmed by a bystander and later sold to The Daily Telegraph for an alleged $10,000.

In the video, Yarbrough accused Clarke of cheating on her with his ex, fashion designer Pip Edwards, on December 17.

Others in the group, including Today host Karl Stefanovic, his wife Jasmine – Yarbrough’s sister – and famed accountant Anthony Bell tried to defuse the uproar.

Yarbrough and Clarke, who limp in footage after injuring a hamstring, have since been hit with “public nuisance” fines.
