Premier League leaders Arsenal have rejected a request from Monaco to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan.
Mikel Arteta is reluctant to let players out, particularly in midfield, as he fears he will need cover at all positions as his side chase the Premier League title.
Arsenal remain in the market to add another midfielder and right-back to this window, with Cedric Soares completing a move to Fulham.

Lokonga joined the Emirates from Anderlecht last season in a deal worth around £17m and has been tipped big by his former boss Vincent Kompany.
However, Lokonga, who has been compared to former Manchester City star Yaya Toure, has struggled to make a name for himself under Arteta.

Lokonga joined the Emirates from Anderlecht in a deal worth around £17million last season. However, he is struggling to cement his place in the starting XI
He made 12 starts last season – most of them in the early part of the season – and another seven came off the bench.
Lokonga said he was close to leaving the club before deciding to take another year to impress the Gunners boss.
However, things haven’t gone according to plan as Lokonga has only played six Premier League games so far this season.
