Minx is saved by Starz for Season 2… after HBO Max abruptly canceled the show and reversed its renewal in May
Exactly one month after HBO Max’s surprise move to cancel their new series Minx — months after they already issued a second-season renewal, the show has found a savior in Starz.
Both the first season and the unaired second season — which was in its final week of production before being abruptly canceled — were picked up by Starz via a network press release.
Set in 1970s Los Angeles and following a feminist’s journey to publishing the first adult magazine for women, the series was renewed by HBO Max in May before the abrupt reversal.

The abrupt termination was just the latest cost-cutting move following Warner Bros. Discovery’s merger, which completed in April.
The studio canceled the $90 million Batgirl movie, which is already being filmed and slated for a 2022 release, as a tax write-off.
They also dropped Little Ellen from HBO Max, The Big D from TBS, and the second season of Chad, while also removing original shows like The Gordita Chronicles.
