Charlotte are hoping to complete the signing of Burnley’s Ashley Westwood as they look to build on an encouraging first season in Major League Soccer.
The Eastern Conference side are looking to add the veteran midfielder to their roster and are in talks of a transfer. He was recently spotted at the Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks NBA game on December 16th.
The 32-year-old has made 286 Premier League appearances with Aston Villa and Burnley, scoring 12 goals.

Westwood has not played since April 2022 after suffering a serious ankle injury at West Ham
Westwood has not played a game since April 2022 after breaking his ankle in a game against West Ham but is back in training at Burnley – who were relegated from the Premier League last season.
Now managed by former Manchester City defender Vincent Kompany, Burnley sit first in the English Championship – England’s second division football.
Burnley beat Swansea 2-1 on Monday and Kompany admitted after the game Westwood could leave after six years at the club but declined to say where he might go.
“He’s someone who has done a lot for the club and personally I have a lot of respect for him,” said Kompany.
“After his injury I told him if there is a unique opportunity at this stage in his career after a big injury, we will look at it for him and that is what we are doing.
