Modern Warfare 2 leak suggests all original maps will eventually return

It seems Infinity Ward is turning back the clock for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and remastering all of the Legendary maps from the original MW2 (2009).

Although previous leaks had speculated that several of the OG offerings could make their return, this new rumor suggests players should expect a lot more from the new title.

The leak was posted to Twitter on Wednesday by prominent Call of Duty leaker @TheGhostOfHope, mentioning that the information came from a “trusted source.”

“Infinity Ward plans to release all/almost all Modern Warfare 2 (2009) maps at once sometime during Modern Warfare II (2022) post-launch,” TheGhostOfHope tweeted. “This could very likely be the content of Year 2.”

If this leak were true, it would certainly be a pretty nice surprise for CoD fans considering how popular the original MW2 maps are in the community to this day.

As previously mentioned, the following four fan-favorite maps from the original 2009 MW2 are expected to return not only for the new main title, but also for the upcoming Warzone 2.0 map itself:

So far, Infinity Ward has officially revealed two of its brand new 6v6 multiplayer maps coming soon with MW2: Marina Bay Grand Prix and Farm 18.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II will be released worldwide on October 28th.
