Anali received a text message from her daughter’s teacher explaining what she was doing at school.
In the video, Anali captures Elliana in the back seat of the car and asks her, “What did you tell the kids?” to which she replied, “Santa Claus wasn’t real.”
The mother laughed at what she heard and asked why she did it.
“Because they thought Santa was real and I was like, ‘No, he’s not real,'” Elliana explained.
Her brother Jax, who was sitting next to her, then jumped in and expressed his concern.
‘Why would you? Now the kids are probably going to go home and have the worst Christmas ever,” he said.
Alongside the video in the caption, Anali wrote: “Thoughts of Santa? How do you teach your kids when they find out it’s a lie and not magic anymore? I honestly don’t care either way, but be prepared to explain yourself knowing your kids will be around other kids who aren’t believers.
“I tell my kids not to spoil it for others, but I won’t be mad if they give facts either.”
The following day, she released another video that complemented her statement.
“Everyone has different beliefs. Her intention was not to offend or hurt the children’s feelings. However, she is 100 percent allowed to speak her mind,” she wrote.
The original post erupted with comments from other parents who disagreed with Anali and felt it was “wrong” and “unfair” for other children for their daughter to reveal the truth at school.
‘It’s not your job to say that. You have to teach her that it’s okay if other kids believe that,” one parent wrote.
Anther said, “Okay, yes, she can speak her mind, but telling kids that Santa isn’t real is a whole different thing … They should tell her not to tell kids that, it’s selfish.”
“Let her be little and enjoy being a kid for as long as possible,” added a third.
But others praised Anali for being “real” with her kids.
“Good job mom for being TRUE with your kids! I will never understand the ‘lying’ part of Christmas,” one mother wrote.
“My kids are 30 by 22 and to this day I still say, ‘If you don’t believe, you don’t receive.’ It’s working, we’ve definitely kept the spirit,” added another.
