She said: “We need justice and we will not rest until we get justice for Gordon.
“The people who did that are still taking to the streets.”
Gordon was stabbed to death just half an hour after leaving his home.
Ms Barrett said the blade cut a large artery in his arm after he raised it to protect himself.
He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary at 6.30pm on the day of the incident.
Medics said it was likely he suffered severe brain damage due to a restricted oxygen supply.

Ms Barrett photographed her son in hospital “to show him what he really was like” if he recovered.
She hopes the images will help prevent similar incidents.
Gordon died in his mother’s arms six days after the incident.
Northumbria Police are still investigating his death.
A total of 14 teenagers between the ages of 15 and 18 were arrested and released on bail.
Three were questioned on suspicion of assault, the others on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Gordon Gault was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary at 6.30pm on the day of the incident.
Ms Barrett said her son had hoped to join the army and expressed concern at the lack of progress in finding his killer.
She said: “Gordon has always been an entertainer. He was always happy. He was never sad. He always wanted to make people laugh. He always wanted to be the center of attention. He was always the loudest.
“You couldn’t blame him because you just wanted to laugh. He wasn’t just my son, he was my best friend.”
His sister Jessica Barrett added: “He was the funniest person I’ve ever met in my life. He would try to play the tough man, but he was so loving.
Anyone with information about Gordon’s death should call Northumbria Police on 101.
