Mother sexually assaulted in Mitcham Park, east Melbourne, by man who asked her to take picture of him

Police are looking for a man after a mother pushing her pram claimed she was sexually assaulted in the middle of a busy Melbourne park.

The woman was pushing her stroller at a park on Mitcham Road in east Melbourne just after 4.30pm on January 6 when she was approached by a man.

Detectives were told the man asked the mother if she could take a picture of him before asking for a selfie.

As the couple posed for the selfie, police were told the man then started kissing the woman.

“The woman was followed by the man before he sexually abused her again, kissing her and putting his arms around her,” Victoria Police said in a statement.

Police are looking for a man who may be able to help with the investigation after a mother was sexually assaulted with her child

The woman was pushing her stroller at a park on Mitcham Road in east Melbourne just after 4.30pm on January 6 when she was approached by a man

“The woman was able to detach herself from the man and sound the alarm.”

She was able to take a picture of the man and send it to the police.

The man is believed to have exited the park heading north, with police conducting an investigation and releasing a picture of a man taken by the victim.

The man is described as being in his mid-20s and approximately 168 cm (5ft 5) old.

He is pictured in a striped t-shirt and track pants.

Victoria Police told Daily Mail Australia there were no new updates and again asked for the public’s help.
