A mom has won a cool $3 million for herself after accidentally buying an Oz Lotto ticket in an “incredible” stroke of luck.
She happened to buy Tuesday’s Division One winning ticket at the CTC Tobacco Shop in Taree on the NSW central north coast to buy another lottery ticket for Wednesday.
But when she realized she’d paid for the Oz Lotto 12-game QuickPick instead of her usual lottery ticket, she decided to “stick with it,” just in case.
It turns out a NSW mum was the only winner of the 1508 Oz Lotto draw with the entire $3 million up for grabs this week – but she did it all by mistake
It turned out that the woman was the only winner of the 1508 Oz Lotto drawing that had the entire $3 million up for grabs.
‘It’s incredible. It’s an extraordinary amount of money,” the winner told The Lott.
She said she couldn’t sleep after seeing the winning numbers, thinking it must have been a mistake since lottery wins “happen to other people”.
“I don’t normally buy Oz Lotto – I’ve probably only bought a ticket in it twice in my life.
“But the other day I got my usual ticket and must have inadvertently asked for a ticket for Tuesday’s draw instead of Wednesday’s.
“After the ticket was printed I realized it was the wrong one but I figured I should just keep it.”
She happened to buy Tuesday’s Division 1 winning ticket from the CTC Tobacco Shop in Taree (pictured) on the central north NSW coast, with the intention of buying another lottery ticket for Wednesday
“After the ticket was printed, I realized it was the wrong one, but I figured I should just keep it,” the mother said
“I’m glad I did it now.”
She said she will use the windfall to pay for renovations and set her family up for the future.
CTC Taree owner Paul Rayment said he was excited his shop had sold the Division One entry.
,That’s great! This is the first for us and it’s great to have one in the bag,” he said.
The winning numbers in Tuesday’s Oz Lotto 1508 draw were 26, 7, 38, 10, 37, 42 and 27, while the bonus numbers were 47, 33 and 34.
