My 8kg little boy had a tremendous growth spurt

A 19-month-old baby has grown so much that he can now share clothes with his four-year-old brother.

Xaylen Asher Richard, who is 19 months old, is above the 100th percentile for his height and can now fit into clothing more than twice his age.

Mom Salitza Richard, 31, of Dallas, Texas, was worried about her son’s health after he grew very rapidly in a short period of time, fitting into 12- to 18-month clothes at just six months old.

Because of his height, athletic trainer Salitza believes her son was delayed in walking until he was older, but jokes that it’s given her much larger biceps because of his height and carrying it longer.

Salitza was scouted for football teams from the age of 19 months and knows that her son will definitely be tall when he is older, even though he was only 8 pounds at birth.

Salitza said: “It was crazy how fast he grew. He was above the 100th percentile at every doctor’s visit.

“It was hilarious when we first went to the doctor when he had his two-week check-up. She asked us if we were sure we had the right baby as he was looking older and older for his age.

“I was worried about his health because I was wondering if it was healthy for the baby to be fat like him and she said everything was perfect.

“I have an older son who was the complete opposite, he was always in the bottom percentile. My older son Judah is four and Xaylen is just over a year old and they wear the same dress size now.

Because of his size, people always assume that Xaylen is much older than him, but Salitza claims that it influenced his development of walking. Pictured: Xaylen (left) aged three months and Judah

“The rate at which it’s growing is insane. I had clothes from when Judah was younger, but I always have to go up a size and change as often.

“When he was one month old he wore three to six month clothes, when he was three months old he wore six to nine month clothes, when he was six months old he wore twelve to eighteen month clothes and now he’s pushing three year old clothes.

Because of his size, people always assume that Xaylen is much older than him, but Salitza claims that it influenced his development of walking.

She explains: “People always think he’s older than he is. He was so heavy, he is now 31 pounds and Judah is currently 32 pounds.

“He has been delayed in growing and walking as he only started walking a few days ago.

“Judah started walking at 10 months and Xaylen at 18 months. I think it’s because of its size that everything was delayed a few months.

“I definitely have bigger biceps because of him because he couldn’t walk until recently I would dread going to places as we would have to hold him although I couldn’t hold it for long as it was too much.

“It’s game-changing now that he’s finally running. He was so excited too.

“It was crazy because it happened overnight, he started taking a few steps and now he’s walking a few days later.

“He doesn’t actually get hurt either, he runs over Judah and Judah will be the one who cries. He’s literally like a bowling ball, he’s such a happy baby.

Salitza said she was concerned for her son’s health, but a doctor assured her everything was “perfect”.

“If you feed him he’s happy, he’s so cool and he eats a lot, he eats his food and then he’ll eat what Judah leaves and then he’ll try to eat more. He’s not picky.

“People who don’t know him and see him will comment that he’s a big baby, but our friends and everyone are in shock, especially because our first one was so small, so it’s the complete opposite.

“I agree with people when they make comments. I’m just as shocked as they are and say “I don’t know what’s happening, we’re just rolling with it”, it’s been a fun ride so far with the differences and experiencing the complete difference.

“One time we were going on holiday and I was stopped and asked to buy him a ticket for a seat as they didn’t believe he was under a year old let alone two which is the age for a baby, um to get a seat on the plane.

“We were asked if he was too old to be on my lap too.

“My husband works with NFL athletes and people are already saying to test him and get him on the team.

“I also work with a lot of high schools and they say they want him as a player on their teams so he’s already been scouted, it’s hilarious.

“People will ask how we got such a big baby and we’re so small. I’m 5’4 and my husband is 5’9, we already know he will definitely be taller than us.’
