But on Tuesday, the pair proved everyone wrong when they were spotted on a romantic date night in New York City.

The couple wrapped up in cozy jackets as they emerged in New York’s SoHo neighborhood.

The on-screen and real-life couple went for a cigarette in clashing outfits.

Dyer – who plays Nancy Wheeler – donned sweaters under a cheetah-print fleece jacket.

She was wearing dark sweatpants and a thin blue scarf with two white stripes.

The first season of Stranger Things premiered on Netflix in 2016.

During filming of the first season, Dyer and Heaton noticed a spark in their on-screen chemistry and began dating in real life.
