As promised, details about the GOAT Boat and MyCAREER for current-gen NBA 2K23 were finally revealed on Friday.
From The GOAT Boat’s three-deck layout to new seasons, environment changes and more, here’s a breakdown of everything you need to know about NBA 2K23’s current-gen MyCAREER reveal.
For those on PS4, Xbox One, PC, or Nintendo Switch, The GOAT Boat has replaced Cancha Del Mar as the neighborhood in NBA 2K23 MyCAREER.
The GOAT boat is said to be an “all-new experience,” featuring a more accessible three-deck layout that offers more game modes and courts, wider lanes and aisles for smoother traversal, and a more central boardwalk:
Platinum Deck: Journeys
Platinum Deck: Deuces
Platinum Deck: Moat
Silver Deck: Promenade
The game room and boardwalk have been merged into a single level this year, making it easier than ever to visit some of the shops before venturing into the other game modes on the Silver Deck.
In addition, players should note the added “showers” that allow you to quickly switch servers. The elevators have also been upgraded to allow for quick travel between key attractions and can also be used to access offshore events.
Aside from the layout, perhaps the biggest change to the GOAT boot is the addition of “no-wait” gameplay to complement Got Next spots. Similar to The REC, you’ll be automatically matched with other players when you join a game, reducing wait times.
The GOAT boat aims to pick up where the Cancha Del Mar left off, inviting players to experience a new outing and event on deck each season. Throughout the year, The GOAT Boat also receives cosmetic updates to match the mood of each season to keep things fresh.
Last but not least, The GOAT Boat will feature some changes to last year’s quest system.
In order to get quests in NBA 2K23 you need to interact with NPCs as they are not automatically assigned to your quest journal.
Additionally, a new quest type, Rival Quests, will be added to allow players to compete 1v1 against the AI within an established storyline with authentic dialogue. These quests contain important NPCs that you will interact with throughout the game.
NBA 2K23 is expected to be released worldwide on September 9th, 2022 for PlayStation 4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC (via Steam).
