Three girls were killed in a fire at a Buffalo home that injured several others, days after the city was hit by a deadly snowstorm.

The two-story home, which was home to eight people, including six children, when the fire broke out at 207 Dartmouth Avenue before 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

All but three of the victims, all girls aged 7, 8 and 10, were unable to make it out of the fire. The home belonged to Clarence and Lisa Liggans’ family, but the children have not been identified.

The fire brigade was able to pull two children, aged around three and ten years old, out of the fire in critical condition.

An aunt at the home noticed the fire first and quickly escaped with a toddler and the children’s grandmother before first responders arrived.

Footage of the fire showed officers using a ladder outside the home to get to the second floor of the home. Smoke was seen exiting the second floor as several firefighters tried to get inside.

Children were later seen being carried away from the scene on a stretcher. The 63-year-old grandmother and two children remain in critical condition, but the infant was unharmed.

Investigators are still determining the cause of the fire.

The family were members of Cornerstone Church Ministries in Buffalo. Their pastor, Dwayne Price, told DailyMail.com the deaths were a “tragedy”.

“The Liggans family is wonderful, they always put the people of the community first,” Price said. “I’m really glad to know her, it’s a complete tragedy, that’s the last thing on your mind or expect as you head into the new year.”

Price has since set up a GoFundMe to help the family.

“They’ve been in the community for a very long time, we just want to be able to help them while they’re suffering,” he said.

According to Price, the family is expected to speak on Sunday.

“You lost everything.”

The fire is the second tragedy to hit Buffalo in the past week, as the death toll from a deadly winter storm in upstate New York officially rose to 39 on Thursday.

The latest death came when a grandmother was found dead just a few hundred yards from her home after deciding to brave the wild weather to collect supplies.

Seventeen of the victims were found outside in the freezing cold, 11 were found dead in their homes after the storm knocked out power for thousands of people while four sat in their cars and four others suffered heart attacks as they passed the eight feet shoveled or plowed mud.

Three others died because emergency services were unable to reach them in time after hundreds of cars were abandoned on the city’s streets and a driving ban was imposed.

The city has now spent $5 million on private contractors to help with the storm cleanup, of which $1 million will be directly allocated to Buffalo alone.
