New York Republicans call for ‘international joke’ George Santos to RESIGN for lying about his life story

Nassau County Republican leaders gutted Rep. George Santos in a news conference on Wednesday, even urging their New Yorker to resign from Congress.

Last year’s “George Santos” campaign was a campaign of deceit, lies and fabrication,” said Nassau County GOP Chair Joseph Cairo.

New MP Anthony D’Esposito joined the group remotely to urge his colleague to resign.

Santos, who was asked if he plans to resign after the call, told reporters, “I won’t.”

Nassau County executive director Bruce Blakeman said his office will have “no interaction” with the GOP congressman from New York’s Third Circuit until he resigns.

He said Santos, who described himself as a Jew, was “ridiculous” and “truly tragic” considering how many descendants of Holocaust survivors live in his district.

New York State Senator Jack Martin confirmed that he would not be working with Santos’ office either. He admitted Santos was unlikely to heed her call – noting that it’s “probably impossible to shame the shameless”.

“But here we stand together to send a message until he is removed one way or another,” Martin added.

The group of officials called Santos’s response to his lies “dishonest, superficial and abusive.”

Hempstead Republican City Warden Donald Clavin said: “He has united the country in his opposition to him. It’s a national joke. It’s an international joke, but this joke has to go… Resign immediately. Not tomorrow. Not next week. Today.’

Pamela Panzenbeck, the mayor of Glen Cove, New York in the Santos borough, said, “We have all been duped, and we are appalled and upset.”

“It’s time you resigned, George,” Panzerbeck said. “He makes fun of the entire convention system.”

Blakeman even suggested that Santos seek psychological help.

‘He needs help. This is not a normal person,” he said, calling Santos’ lies “pathological.”

Cairo said Santos would not be welcome at future meetings or public events at the GOP headquarters in Nassau. “He disgraced the House of Representatives and we do not consider him one of our congressmen.”

Cairo admitted that the Santos district’s political arm did not conduct a thorough scrutiny before propping it up.

“Shame on me for believing people,” he said. “We will now change our process.”

Cairo said it has not spoken to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. GOP leaders have so far remained silent on the deception.

Santos was a surefire vote for McCarthy at a time when he needed every vote he could get to win the Speaker’s Hammer. So far, at least three members of McCarthy’s conference – Reps. Mike Gallagher, R-Wisc., Nancy Mace, RS.C., and Dusty Johnson, RS.D. – said publicly that Santos should not be given committee orders.

McCarthy said on Wednesday Santos would not sit on any of the top committees whose membership will be decided today.

Both McCarthy and Scalise said they didn’t see the Nassau GOP’s calls for his resignation when asked about it right after the press conference.

“Let me read it and I’ll answer,” McCarthy said.
