Nightclub company aims for fourfold increase in venues

Nightclub Company Aims to Quadruple Venues: Rekom UK, owner of Pryzm and Fictions, has 51 clubs and bars
- Aims to meet target by 2028 and envisages locations in Manchester and Liverpool
- Nightclubs are still recovering from months of closures during the pandemic
Britain’s largest nightclub group plans to quadruple its venues to 200.
Rekom UK, whose brands include Pryzm and Fiction, already has 51 clubs and bars.
It aims to meet the new target by 2028 and wants to snag locations in major cities like Manchester and Liverpool.

“Affordable Treat”: Despite the cost-of-living crisis, demand is strong on Saturday nights
Despite the cost of living crisis, demand is strong on Saturday nights, chief executive Peter Marks told The Mail on Sunday. But the weeknights are getting more and more subdued.
“What we’re seeing now is more movement towards the weekend and that people are very guided by big events like Halloween, New Years and birthdays,” Marks said. “Monday through Thursday have never been a big part of the trade, they’ve definitely fallen behind a bit. Friday is stronger and then Saturday is OK.’
The company says its key customers – young people and students – are less likely to be affected by rising household prices and view clubbing as an “affordable indulgence”.
Nightclubs are still recovering from months of closures during the pandemic.
Marks said he is keen to open Rekom’s first venue in Central London. However, he is focusing his efforts on regional cities where there can be multiple bars and clubs in ‘clusters’, as happened in Cardiff. “We don’t have anything in Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle or Glasgow so obviously those are targets for us,” he said.
