Not the pizza topping she wanted! Personal assistant, 21, says she found a bitten FINGERNAIL on her Domino’s delivery

A woman claims she felt “nauseous” after discovering the crunchy topping on her Domino’s pizza was a bitten fingernail she had been chewing on.

Sophie Fruen ordered a medium build-your-own pizza with chicken, mushrooms, onions and corn on November 11 during a night out with her boyfriend and sister in Worksop, 19 miles from Sheffield.

The 21-year-old munched on what she initially thought was one of the crunchy toppings while her boyfriend Jay Kendall, 20, and sister Evangeline, ten, ate it.

The personal assistant was outraged when she discovered what she claimed was a “bitten fingernail” in the dough.

Ms Fruen was ill and said she called the Worksop branch where she picked up the order eight times but was not able to get through.

Ms. Fruen said, “I had already eaten one slice of pizza.” As I chewed the second slice of pizza, it was crispy.

“At first I thought it was a piece of crunchy corn or an onion until I spit it out.

“I think it’s a fingernail, it’s like someone bit off the end of their fingernail, I saw it straight away.”

“It was the whole tip of a nail.” I’m pretty sure someone bit it off because the nail had small breaks.

“I got sick and then I didn’t want to eat the rest of my pizza.”

Sophie, her boyfriend and her sister jumped in the car and drove to the store with the pizza and the offending item.

After Mr. Kendall, the plumbing dealer’s sales assistant, explained the situation, he requested a replacement and refund.

But Mr Kendall, who was waiting in the car with her sister, claims after he was handed the fresh pizza he was told he would no longer be getting his money back.

Now the couple, who spent £35 on pizzas, chicken strips and chocolate dough balls, are refusing to eat there in future.

Ms Fruen continued: “I tried calling Domino’s eight times but they didn’t answer so I ended up having to drive up with the nail in the box.”

“I was in the car with my sister, so my friend took it.”

“There was a lady behind the counter who was really embarrassed, she got a manager.”

“He came out and said, ‘Would you rather have a pizza or a refund?'” He said both and it’s not sanitary.

“He waited 20 minutes for the pizza. When my friend said, “What about the refund?” He said, “You won’t get a refund because we made your pizza.”

“I was even more annoyed because everyone else’s food at home had gotten cold and they all had cold pizza.”

“I looked closely at the replacement pizza because I didn’t really want to eat another fingernail.” It put me off, I didn’t really want to eat it.

“We have been ordering there every few weeks for a year. It was one of my favorite takeout places.

“I used to love Dominos but not anymore, that stopped my sister from eating it too.”

Ms Fruen said: “I don’t even think it would be a big deal if it was a hair because of course hair can fall out all the time so there’s not really anything you can do about it.”

“But the fact that it’s someone’s fingernail and someone physically bit it.” [is bad].

“Even if someone’s nail is broken, you know when your nail is broken.” You would say to someone, “We have to throw away the rest of this dough, I broke a nail.”

“I will not order from this store again.”

After being contacted for comment, Domino’s said it had contacted Sophie and offered a full refund and a replacement pizza.

A spokesperson for Domino’s said: “We pride ourselves on great-tasting, quality pizza and all of our food goes through a rigorous, thorough quality check before being sent out to customers.”

“We have contacted this customer and offered a full refund and replacement pizza to compensate for their inability to enjoy their Domino’s on this occasion.”
