Novak Djokovic moved one step closer to equaling Margaret Court’s record of 24 Grand Slam singles after holding on despite a late lead from American prodigy Ben Shelton.

The No. 2 seed survived set point in the third and final set and triumphed 6-3, 6-2, 7-6 – despite the will of Shelton and the partisan crowd of Arthur Ashe.

Djokovic will play tonight against the winner of the semifinal between No. 1 seed Carlos Alcaraz and No. 3 seed Daniil Medvedev.
