Overwatch April Fools: Reinhardt Easter Egg celebrates the holiday

Overwatch April Fools is here and Blizzard has returned to the fountain with its celebration. That’s how it pranked its players this year.

Overwatch has been around long enough to celebrate two different April Fool’s Day events, and it’s celebrated in the same way both times. In 2017, its first year of release, Overwatch added a single joke to mention the holiday. For players playing Reinhardt and typing messages in chat, all text would appear in all caps with Reinhardt voice lines at the end, as if Reinhardt himself was shouting the text.

Players were divided over the joke, with some viewing it as an annoying inconvenience as much as a fun event.

The joke returned the following year and appears to have surfaced for the third time this year on Sunday, making Reinhardt’s text-based yelling a true Overwatch tradition.
