Green Bay Packers’ Quay Walker has apologized for pushing a Detroit Lions practice staffer after becoming the only NFL player to be sacked twice this season after a similar incident in October.

The linebacker was pulled from the game after his second altercation with an opposing team staffer this season. He was ejected after members of the Lions coaching staff came onto the field to tend to an injured player.

It comes less than a week after a member of the Buffalo Bills training staff was on the field and saved the life of safety Damar Hamlin as he went into cardiac arrest.

“I would like to publicly apologize for what happened on Sunday night. I’ve acted out of my emotions again and take full responsibility for another stupid decision,” Walker wrote on Twitter Monday morning.

“Since then I’ve been wondering why I did what I did when the coach was doing his job!! I was wrong!!

“I understand that I have to face everything that comes with the decision I made and I’m definitely paying for it now.

“Also to explain my frustration in the tunnel. I wasn’t upset about getting kicked out, I just knew I screwed up again and was wrong about what I had done and I couldn’t believe I had done it again. To the Detroit Lions and to the entire coaching staff including the person I also made. I’m sorry.’

Walker was seen on camera poking the employee in the back with two hands. From a different camera angle when NBC was showing the Sunday Night Football rerun, you can see Walker push and DT Devonte Wyatt crash into him.

He did so right in front of a referee, who immediately threw a flag, knocking him out of the game.

The incident happened late in the fourth quarter of Green Bay’s 20-16 loss to the Lions, which knocked them out of the playoffs and allowed the Seattle Seahawks to take their place.

This isn’t Walker’s first sacking for this offense in his young NFL career. Back in October, he was thrown by Green Bay’s 27-17 loss to Buffalo.

After this incident, Walker spoke to the media and explained the expulsion from his point of view:

“So I made a tackle on the sidelines when my former teammate… as I got up I felt someone push me from behind and I probably misinterpreted what it was.

“But I just felt the push and I’m on the sidelines, the feelings just flow and you know I’m very excited and stuff. And I just reacted out of emotion.

“Then I immediately regretted it as soon as I did that…something to live with, something to face…But I do apologize to the guy I pushed — even though I felt that way.” pushed, but maybe that wasn’t the case, but at the same time I’m sorry for what I did and I just have to face it.

The NFL has not announced whether Walker will be fined for his actions last night. Green Bay ended their season with an 8-9 record.
