Pep Guardiola takes a break from FA Cup final preparations to go to an Elton John concert

Saturday afternoon is all about fighting! Pep Guardiola is taking a break from his FA Cup final preparations to attend an Elton John concert in Manchester… after revealing five years ago he was dying to see the pop legend live
Pep Guardiola took a break from his FA Cup final preparations with Manchester City to attend an Elton John concert on Wednesday night.
The storied manager is in the midst of a landmark treble promotion with the city’s sky-blue side after winning the Premier League with three games remaining.
City meet city rivals Manchester United at Wembley Stadium on Saturday and meet at the iconic stadium for the first time since the semi-finals in the same competition over a decade ago.
Should they beat Erik ten Hag’s side in the capital, City will face their third challenge in Istanbul when they meet Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
But putting his team in the history books was the last straw for him as the former Barcelona coach joined the crowd at the AO Arena on the first night of the ‘Crocodile Rock’ hitmaker’s Manchester tour.

Pep Guardiola seemed delighted to be able to fulfill his long-held dream of attending an Elton John concert

The pop star is currently conducting his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour of Europe
Guardiola attended the Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour with his eldest daughter Maria, who shared videos of hits by the artist like “Sorry Those to Be the Hardest Word” and “Saturday Night’s Alright for Fighting.”
The league’s head coach filmed the performances with a beaming smile on his face.
Earlier, the manager had given his players two days off after the end of their league season, noting the importance of recovery at such an intense time.
“Go with your families when the sun is out, play golf, do what you want and prepare for the finals on quality,” Guardiola advised. “You have to train a little, but they know exactly what we need to arrive in the best conditions for the final.”
Guardiola is a longtime supporter of Watford’s honorary lifetime presidency and mentioned the pop star in a 2018 interview with BBC Sounds about his six favorite songs.
His favorite from the artist’s repertoire is “Your Song,” and the manager said hearing it live is a long-held fantasy.
“One of my dreams is to see an Elton John concert, especially this song.” I first heard it when I was 18 or 19 and started playing in Barcelona. I remember many songs from that period of my life.

Sir Elton is Honorary Life President of Watford, having previously served as club chairman

The Catalan manager has an unbeaten record against the Hornets, winning all 11 games
“I met him (Elton John) when we played Watford last season, last game, and it was a great pleasure,” added Guardiola.
“Hopefully he can organize a concert please.” I’ll be there.’
On the other hand, from a footballing point of view, Sir Elton is unlikely to be the biggest Guardiola fan.
The Catalan manager’s City side have had a strong record against the Hertfordshire club, winning all 11 matches.
