- Dad broke his silence to pay tribute to the pool owners and plead
- Hadn’t met his new neighbors before the tragedy and that they didn’t know about CPR
A grieving father mourning the loss of his little boy who tragically drowned in a neighbor’s backyard pool has emotionally called on everyone to maintain pool fences and learn CPR.
Isaac Powell, 3, was playing at his new home in Canning Vale, Perth last Thursday when he slipped through a gap in the fence and snuck into a neighbour’s backyard.
His distraught mother, Zahra, noticed the toddler was missing and searched the surrounding streets for 15 minutes before Isaac was found lifeless in the neighbor’s pool by children.
She performed CPR until paramedics arrived who took him to Perth Children’s Hospital.
Isaac was on life support for five days before his parents made the heartbreaking decision to turn it off on Monday.
Devastated dad Stephen Powell fought back tears as he paid tribute to his beautiful boy and revealed they had moved to the area days earlier.

“He was just playing in the backyard and managed to find a hole in the fence,” he told Nine News.
“He went through to our neighbor’s house, I haven’t even met her, I don’t know her at all… and he fell into her pool.
“He is now at peace and we must take comfort in that.”
He gave a powerful message to every pool owner.
“If you have a pool, maintain your fences, and the people who found it didn’t know CPR,” Mr. Powell said.
“I’m not saying it could have saved him, but it’s better than just doing nothing.”
Mr Powell described his youngest son as energetic with a cheeky giggle.
“He was the cutest little boy, you wouldn’t see him without a car in hand,” he said.
“He’ll have a couple of cars when he leaves.”

Issac’s aunt Ummu Bakri revealed the tragedy that unfolded on his mother’s birthday.
“I don’t think time will ever heal as every birthday reminds her that her child is dying,” she said.
Ms Bakri also revealed her sister was organizing for a family reunion at the new house when Isaac disappeared.
“When she was getting the new house set up, she realized her three-year-old son was missing,” she posed.
“When she searched the house and the backyard, she couldn’t find him. All she could think was that he might have managed to open the side door to the garage and escape to the street.

Isaac Powell is remembered as a beautiful, full of life boy who loved his toy cars

The tragedy followed a spate of drownings across Australia over the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
An online fundraiser started by friends has already raised more than $31,000 for Isaac’s family in just 24 hours.
“Nobody ever thinks about losing a child and plans to save money for the occasion. So this page is for anyone who is able to fund or support this.”
“I know Stephen & Zahra would be forever grateful but certainly wouldn’t expect anything. Let’s unite as a community to help Stephen and Zahra and support them as they navigate their grief and try to find some semblance of life after this harrowing loss.
“Any donation, however small, will support her family’s expenses during this difficult time.”
