Phillip Schofield apologizes to his wife Stephanie Lowe after admitting he had an affair

TV presenter Phillip Schofield has apologized to his wife, who stood by him after he came out in 2020 after she publicly confessed to an affair with a young male This Morning colleague.
The “unwise” romance took place during the couple’s nearly 30-year marriage, and Schofield said he was “so sorry” for being unfaithful.
Stephanie Lowe, 59, who has two children, Ruby and Molly, with Schofield, made a statement when her then-husband came out as gay in a moving segment of This Morning in 2020.
The presenter stepped down last weekend after more than 20 years on the radio and confirmed the affair in a statement to the Mail on Friday.
He has resigned from ITV and will no longer present the British Soap Awards and has been sacked “with immediate effect” by his agents at YMU.

In a humble statement, the former ITV presenter said: “I am making this statement via the Daily Mail where I have already personally apologized for being misled by my lawyer, whom I also misled, about a story. ” [sic] what you wanted to write about me a few days ago.
“The first thing I want to say is, I’m deeply sorry that I lied to you and many others about my relationship with someone who worked on This Morning.”
“I was in a consensual on-off relationship with a younger male colleague at This Morning.”
“Contrary to speculation, while I met the man as a teenager and was asked to help him break into television, it wasn’t until he began working on the show that it grew into more than a friendship.”
“This relationship was unwise, but not illegal.” Now it’s over…
“I am painfully aware that I have lied to my employers at ITV, my colleagues and friends, my agents, the media and by extension the public and most importantly my family.” I am very, very sorry for being unfaithful to my wife have become…
“I am stepping down from ITV with immediate effect and I would like to express my enormous gratitude to them for all the great opportunities they have given me.”
“I will reflect on my very poor judgment when I participated in the relationship and then lied about it.”
The couple married in March 1993, having met when Schofield was working in children’s television and she was a production assistant at the BBC.
They married in 1993 in Ackergill Tower, Scotland, and celebrated their silver anniversary in 2018 – just two years before Schofield came out as gay.
In February 2020, the presenter opened up about his sexuality to his Instagram followers and said he has the support of his wife and daughters.
“You never know what’s going on in someone’s seemingly perfect life, what issues they’re struggling with, or how they’re doing — and that’s why you never know what’s been on my mind over the last few years.”
“With the strength and support of my wife and daughters, I have come to terms with the fact that I am gay.”
In a follow-up post, he talked about how Stephanie had continued to support him even after he came out.
“Steph was amazing – I love her so much.” She’s the kindest soul I’ve ever met. My girls were amazing in their love, hugs and encouraging words of comfort.
“Both my family and Steph’s entire family have amazed me with their love, instant acceptance and support.” Of course they are worried about Steph, but I know they will both hold us together.’
At the time, Ms Lowe issued a heartfelt statement of support for her husband, saying she will support him in this “bold move”.
“We went through the most emotionally painful time of our 27 years of marriage.

Phillip Schofield has sensationally admitted to being in a relationship with a much younger man who was his colleague on This Morning (pictured with co-host Holly Willoughby).

Former close friends Schofield and Willoughby, pictured together on Dancing on Ice in 2006, had become increasingly estranged in recent months
“I love Phillip more than ever today and I always will.”
she said The sun in 2020: “We have been blown away by the strength and love of our precious girls, even as they have tried to understand it all for themselves.”
“Our family has also been very supportive and will help us in the future.”
She added: “Although it’s difficult for all of us, I support Phillip in this bold move.”
Still wearing his wedding ring often, Schofield said on the Chris Evans podcast in October 2020, “It’s not in my nature to hurt people and so I have to come to terms with the fact that I did.”
“Indeed I did, and I tried very hard not to.” I also wonder: Is it possible to come out without hurting your wife? No, of course it isn’t. My biggest concern is that she’s okay.’
He said on the podcast that the couple hadn’t discussed a divorce. The mirror has since reported that Ms Lowe said she will stand by him until he is “settled and happy in a new relationship” and then they would discuss an “amicable separation”.
The presenter has spent much of the coronavirus lockdown with his family, including Stephanie Lowe, at their £2million home in Henley.
