Phoenix Suns ‘trade for Kevin Durant’ in blockbuster five-player deal with Brooklyn Nets

BREAKING NEWS: Phoenix Suns ‘trade for Nets star Kevin Durant’ in shock blockbuster trade deadline move after Brooklyn loses Kyrie Irving – with ‘five players who will be involved in the deal’

Close to making a sensational move to the Phoenix Suns, Kevin Durant is poised to become the latest big name to leave Brooklyn.

Durant and TJ Warren will move to the Valley in a blockbuster trade that is sure to shake the NBA world to its core.

The news broke shortly after Durant’s former teammate Kyrie Irving starred in his debut for Dallas.

An ESPN report states that Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and four first-round picks will travel to Brooklyn in exchange for the duo.

The picks in 2023, ’25, ’27 and ’29 are all unprotected. In addition, there will be a selection swap between the two franchises.

Phoenix is currently fifth in the Western Conference and is struggling to regain last season’s form, but with Durant seemingly imminent, its fate could change drastically in the regular season and beyond.

The move signals the end of a very talented, if hugely unsuccessful, era in Brooklyn, where James Harden, Irving or Ben Simmons could help bring the Nets close to an NBA title.

Durant, who requested a trade this offseason, will be back in the Western Conference, having started his career there with the Oklahoma City Thunder before joining the Golden State Warriors as a free agent in 2016.

His move to Brooklyn in 2019 landed him in the Eastern Conference, but now he will battle Irving, Nikola Jokic and Ja Morant for West dominance.

In less than three seasons in New York, Durant has averaged 29 points and 5.8 assists while shooting 40% from three-point range.

As a net, Durant’s best playoff finish was an Eastern Conference semifinals, which Brooklyn lost to Milwaukee in seven games.

Phoenix plays in Atlanta tonight before heading to Indiana for a game against the Pacers on Friday night. Should the deal become official, Durant will most likely debut after the All-Star break.

While standing on the podium after his debut 24-point performance for Dallas, Irving was asked for his opinion on his friend’s reported trade.

“I’m glad he got out of there,” Irving said of his former teammate.

“I just pray for his happiness and well-being. We had many conversations throughout the year about what our future would be like.

“The only thing that mattered to us was that we see each other in places where we can flourish, be it together or separately.

“I love the competition now that we can be at the same conference and I applaud it all. I’ll probably play a lot more against Phoenix, I’m looking forward to that.”
