A husband accused of murdering his wife is pictured with her in a photo released at a holiday park a year before her wife died.
Simon Steeves, 70, will appear at Taunton Magistrates Court today in connection with the death of Denise Steeves, 59, at Diamond Meadow Lodge Park in Brean, Somerset.
Avon and Somerset Police officers were called to the holiday park on Weston Road at around 4.50pm on Wednesday. On arrival they found a woman with a “significant injury” who was sadly pronounced dead half an hour later.
Steeves, who lived with the victim in the park, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and has now been charged.
Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT) Detective Inspector Neil Meade said: “Formal identification has yet to be made, however we believe the deceased is Denise Steeves.”

A 70-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his partner at a holiday park after she was found with a “significant injury”.
“Their family is fully informed of this development and our thoughts continue to be with them as they come to terms with what has happened.”
“We will continue to conduct a full and thorough investigation as this case moves forward.”
“There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area and our officers remain available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.”
Locals say the couple were often seen walking around the property with their dog and were described as very friendly. Many people find it difficult to process what has happened.
A local who lived in the park said: “They were a lovely couple and lived together, they were always walking their dog in the park.” I always said hello and waved to them.
“I’ve never seen any police here and I didn’t see anything unusual in their trailer.

“I was very surprised to hear that the park was full of police cars and about three ambulances.”
Another local said: “I’ve lived here for over 35 years and have never seen the police – except when driving past.” It’s really unusual, there’s never been any trouble there.
“I saw a helicopter land there, but I’m not sure if it was a police helicopter or a rescue helicopter.”
‘It is shocking.’
