This is the shocking moment heavily armed police officers drew guns and arrested three suspected fugitives.

The men allegedly robbed several shops with a machete in Werribee, in Melbourne’s inner suburbs, before leading police on a wild chase.

Officers initially called off the high-speed pursuit, which was livestreamed from those in the getaway car, as they felt it was too dangerous.

Police later spotted the suspected robbers at a gas station and launched a second chase that ended with a Hyundai hatchback crashing into a post.

Footage shows officers drawing guns and approaching the suspected fugitives before arresting them.

Police allege two men broke into a Foodworks supermarket just after 9am and demanded cash with a machete.

The group then allegedly entered another store where a man is accused of stealing cash and alcohol.

A 20-, 18- and 16-year-old man are said to have fled the scene in a stolen gray Hyundai hatchback.

“Once the vehicle entered the freeway at 100 mph, it became too unsafe,” Senior Sergeant Keith Kissack said.

However, the alleged thieves then showed themselves on social media, allowing the police to get closer.

After the pursuit was called off, the police were still able to track the perpetrators as they were live streamed on social media.

It is believed that the perpetrators threw a wheel wrench and a bottle of alcohol at police officers during the pursuit.

All three men were arrested at the scene after the accident.

One perpetrator was taken to the Royal Children’s Hospital and the other two are currently in custody.

“You could hear the police coming down the street and then suddenly there was this almighty bang,” witness David Rogers told the Herald Sun.

NQR Werribee employee and alleged victim Paris Jones said the perpetrators vandalized the store after stealing items.

“Everyone is fine, but it was obviously a scary ordeal,” she recalled.

“It happened very quickly, they (allegedly) walked in, threatened, they got the money, got what they wanted, but then they went to the liquor department and stole some more and threw some stuff around just for fun.”
