Police investigating Andrew Tate’s sex allegations are conducting new raids across Romania

Police are investigating sex allegations against controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate and his brother and have launched new raids across Romania.

In a series of raids through Bucharest and elsewhere in Romania, police confiscated papers and computer equipment from various properties allegedly linked to Tate and his brother Tristan.

According to media reports in the country, the British consul visited the brothers in the prison where they are being held after their arrest last month.

They were arrested as part of a full investigation into allegations that several women had been trafficked and raped by the Luton-born Tate and his brother as part of an organized criminal empire.

Meanwhile, MailOnline is also able to reveal that one of two women named Tate’s Angels arrested at the same time is being released from custody out of compassion.

Former police officer Luana Radu, 32, has been given a three-hour license so she can attend her grandmother’s funeral in Bucharest later on Thursday.

She left the police force eight years ago to focus on working in sex video chat rooms with Georgiana Naghel, 28, and investigators say both played a role in helping other women involved in the business to “force” and to “control”.

Tate, 36, a British-American national with 4.5 million Twitter followers, was arrested in Bucharest on December 29 along with his brother Tristan and two Romanian women.

On Tuesday, a court upheld a judge’s December 30 request to extend his detention from 24 hours to 30 days.

In a separate hearing Wednesday at the Bucharest tribunal, Tate lost an appeal challenging assets seized by prosecutors, including real estate and a fleet of luxury cars, said Ramona Bolla, a spokeswoman for Romania’s anti-organized crime agency DIICOT.

The court “ruled that the seizures are legal and (that) the goods remain at our disposal,” she told The Associated Press.

Prosecutors investigating the case have so far seized 15 luxury cars — 11 in December raids and four in the past week — at least seven belonging to the Tate brothers, and more than 10 properties and properties from companies registered with them are.

Bolla said it was not clear whether assets seized since December were included in Wednesday’s appeal.

If prosecutors can prove the Tates made money through human trafficking, Bolla said the assets could be used to help pay for the investigation and compensate victims.

Ahead of Wednesday’s court ruling, Constantin Gliga, one of Tate’s lawyers, told the media that the asset seizures were disproportionate to the charges.

DIICOT said it identified six victims in the human trafficking case who were subjected to “acts of physical violence and psychological coercion” and sexually exploited by members of the alleged criminal group.

The agency said the victims were lured by love shams and were later intimidated, monitored and subjected to other control tactics while being coerced into appearing in pornography intended to earn money for their alleged pursuers.

Tate, a former professional kickboxer who has reportedly been based in Romania since 2017, was previously banned from various prominent social media platforms for expressing misogynistic views and hate speech.
