Prince Harry claims he hallucinated that a trash can spoke to him during a bad mushroom trip in memoir

Prince Harry has sensationally claimed he hallucinated that a trash can was talking to him after taking magic mushrooms.

The Duke of Sussex revealed the bad trip in his bombshell memoir Spare, in which he also admitted to having used cocaine on a couple of occasions during his wilder years.

In the autobiography, which was released in Spain early yesterday ahead of its UK release next week, Harry claimed the experience happened at a party with his friends.

The prince said they spied a box of mushroom chocolates in a fridge and decided to eat them before washing them down with tequila.

The Duke, pictured here with his brother at the 2008 Christmas service in Sandringham, also admitted to having used cocaine “a couple of times”.

However, the trip didn’t go as planned, and the Duke ended up having a horrific experience with a trash can in the bathroom.

The Sun reported that Harry wrote: “Next to the toilet was a round silver dustbin, the kind with a foot pedal to open the lid. I stared at the bin. It stared back. Then it became… a head.

“I stepped on the pedal and the head opened its mouth. A huge open grin.

“I laughed, turned away, took a ***. Now the toilet has also become a head. The bowl was his gaping maw, the hinges of the seat were his piercing silver eyes. It said: “Aaah”.’

Elsewhere in his memoir, Harry claimed that he was once dragged into an office and questioned by a member of the royal household about possible illegal drug use.

The barbecue took place during the Queen’s Golden Jubilee in 2002 after a journalist asked Buckingham Palace about his drug use habits.

The Duke revealed he smoked cannabis and drank alcohol at the beginning of the book, before later saying he was offered a string of cocaine during a hunting trip.

He admitted lying to the housekeeping worker who questioned him, adding that taking cocaine was “not fun”.

He added that he did it partly to be different and because he was a “17-year-old willing to try almost anything that would disrupt the established order.”

According to translations obtained by MailOnline and also reported by Sky News, he wrote that the drug “didn’t make me particularly happy” but added that it made him “feel different”.

Harry also describes smoking cigarettes and cannabis and drinking on the Windsor Castle golf course when he was a student at Eton.

The Duke’s exploits as “party leader” have been widely reported over the years. Speaking on US actor Dax Shepard’s podcast in 2021, Harry laughed as he recalled his infamous party trip to Las Vegas, which saw nude photos of him leaked to the press.

In 2012 he enjoyed a wild weekend in Las Vegas, where he was given only a necklace while a naked girl hid behind him after playing strip billiards in his VIP suite.

During Dax’s ‘Armchair Expert’ show, the king chatted about how people are more likely to run away and rebel after being told ‘you need help’ when the host mentioned the infamous trip, and joked: ‘[Or] Get undressed in Las Vegas’.

It comes after the Duke of Sussex claimed he and his brother begged their father not to marry the Queen’s current consort and that he wondered if she would one day be his “wicked stepmother”.

Spare revealed the royal brothers knew Camilla as the “other woman”.

Kensington Palace and Buckingham Palace have declined to comment on the leaked claims from Harry’s book, which surfaced five days before the explosive, telltale memoir was due to be released in the UK.

The book details the moment he was first introduced to Camilla.

The Duke reportedly claimed he and his brother met her separately before she married the now-King in 2005.

He claimed seeing his current stepmother for the first time was like avoiding the pain of squirting and squirting, claiming that Camilla appeared “bored” during their meeting before wondering if she would be his “nasty stepmother” in the future would be.

Also in the book, the Duke claimed he and his brother were willing to forgive her if she could make Charles happy, adding: “We saw it the way we did, he wasn’t.

“We could see the absent looks, the empty sighs, the frustration that was always on his face.”

Harry also claimed that he and William told Charles they would welcome Camilla into the family on the condition that he would not marry her and “begged” him not to do so.

He claimed his father did not respond to their requests.

The brothers feared Camilla was being compared unfairly to their mother Diana, Princess of Wales, Harry also claimed.

Other revelations from the book include the Duke’s claims that a campaign was launched for Charles to marry Camilla and that his stepmother leaked details of her conversation with William to the press.

The Guardian, who said he was able to obtain a copy of Spare despite the tight pre-launch security, reported that Harry claims he was physically assaulted by William and during a furious confrontation for the Duchess of Sussex ground been beaten.

Harry claimed William “came up to me” and in the ensuing scuffle was “grabbed by the collar and my necklace was torn”.

He added that he ended up hitting the ground and landing on a dog bowl, which left him visibly injured.

Other reported revelations include the brothers calling each other ‘Willy’ and ‘Harold’ and that Charles begged his sons during a tense meeting after the Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral, ‘Please boys. Don’t make my final years a misery.”

The book comes just weeks after Harry and Meghan’s bombastic Netflix documentary – in which Harry said he was left terrified when William yelled and yelled at him at a tense summit in Sandringham in 2020.
