And in a separate teaser published by Good Morning America last night, he admits the rift with William would make her late mother “sad”.

Harry has claimed there was a fight between him and the Prince of Wales after calling Meghan Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive”. Harry’s book also reveals that William warned him not to propose to him.

Harry claims the riot at Nottingham Cottage – his home in Kensington Palace – ended with William grabbing his collar and throwing him to the ground, smashing a dog bowl. He claims his back was scraped and injured.

In a newly released clip from ITV’s forthcoming interview with Harry, the Duke said his brother was so frustrated during the incident, which is said to have happened in 2019, that he saw “red mist in him”.

“He wanted me to hit him back, but I decided against it,” he says of his brother. In the clip released early Friday morning, Harry tells his friend Tom Bradby: “What was different here was the level of frustration and I’m talking about the red haze that I’ve had for so many years and I saw that red haze in him .’

In the short clip from the ITV interview, set to air on Sunday, Harry also addressed the drug use described in Spare.

Mr Bradby tells the Duke: “There’s a whole lot of drugs (in the book). Marijuana, magic mushrooms, cocaine. I mean that will surprise people.’

The Duke seems to agree, saying it’s “important to acknowledge that”.

The king also says he wants to be reconciled with his family – something he says cannot happen without “some accountability”.

“I want reconciliation,” he says, “but first there has to be some accountability.” The Duke also says: “The truth was supposed to be in the moment, there’s only one side of the story, isn’t there? But every story has two sides.”

It comes after Harry reportedly claimed in his book that William had called his American wife Meghan “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” – comments the younger brother said had “the press narrative” about his wife parroted.

The Guardian, which first reported the dispute, said it was able to obtain a copy of the book, which is due to be published on January 10, despite strict security measures surrounding its release.

In an earlier teaser of the ITV interview, Harry says he’s releasing his memoir because he doesn’t know “how silence will ever make things better”.

The full ITV interview is scheduled to air two days before release, and in one trailer Mr Bradby asks: “Wouldn’t your brother say to you, ‘Harry, how could you do this to me after all? After everything we’ve been through?’ Wouldn’t he say that?”

Harry replied, ‘He would probably say all sorts of things.’

Mr Bradby, a former royal correspondent and current presenter of ITV News at Ten, is a friend of the Sussexes and previously interviewed them for a documentary about their 2019 tour of Africa.

He said to Harry: ‘Some people will say that you have railed against invasion of privacy your whole life, but the charge will be here, if you invade the privacy of your nearest and dearest without permission, that will be the charge .’

Harry replied, ‘That will be the accusation from people who don’t understand or don’t want to believe that my family informed the press.’

Asked if he will attend his father’s coronation later this year, he said: “A lot can happen before then, but the door is always open, the ball is theirs.

“There’s a lot to talk about and I really hope they’re ready to sit down and talk about it.”

Harry said he still believes in the monarchy, but when asked if he thinks he will play a role in its future, he said: “I don’t know.”

The show, titled Harry: The Interview, will air on ITV1 and ITX on January 8th at 9pm.
