Qantas passengers are stranded at Perth Airport after a serious incident

A major city’s airport was thrown into chaos when an accident set off sprinklers, causing a terminal to be evacuated and planes stranded on the runway.

The fire alarm was raised and resulted in Perth’s T3 terminal, which serves Qantas domestic and international flights, being hastily emptied on Sunday afternoon.

Hundreds of potential passengers had to gather outside.

“Perth Airport evacuated.” Reports of a kitchen fire. “Could be a long day,” one frantically posted on Facebook.

Even fully loaded aircraft remained stranded.

“Stuck on the tarmac at Perth Airport on a Qantas domestic flight,” one person wrote on social media platform X.

“Apparently the terminal was evacuated and they only allowed security personnel back in.”

An airport spokesman said the incident involved a baggage truck hitting a sprinkler valve, causing water to be sprayed.

The spokesman said people would be allowed back into the terminal.
