Queen Letizia wows alongside King Felipe in red at a literary event in Madrid

Queen Letizia of Spain looked glamorous in an all-red ensemble as she attended a literary event in Madrid on Thursday night.

The 50-year-old Queen exuded sophistication as she stepped out alongside her husband, King Felipe, to the event, held to commemorate the centenary of the first Casa Del Libro bookshop.

Mum-of-two Letizia turned heads in a scarlet long-sleeved top and matching tailored trousers.

She completed her ensemble with silver stiletto heels and a matching sparkling clutch.

Her brunette tresses were styled in loose curls and her glamorous makeup enhanced her naturally flawless complexion.

King Felipe looked typically elegant in his black suit, which he paired with a white shirt and pink tie.

Casa del Libro, the Grupo Planeta bookstore chain, was founded in 1923 and was acquired by the group in 1992.

In 1999 there were four bookstores and today there are 47 bookstores spread all over the Iberian Peninsula.

The appearance comes after Letizia donned a chic black dress as she attended events marking the opening of the IX. International Congress of the Spanish Language.

The Royal was effortlessly elegant when she and King Felipe arrived at the Gran Teatro Falla in Cadiz.

Her chic Hugo Boss dress featured mesh detailing along the neckline and fanned out to stylish sleeves with tassels that draped down her arms.

For the event, the mother-of-two – who recently shared her opinion by showing off her natural shades of gray – opted to style her locks in a bun.

Carrying a black handbag, she paired the ensemble with slingback stilettos.

Letizia wore long embellished statement earrings and kept her makeup look glamorous with a smoky eye.

Elsewhere, Felipe cut a dapper silhouette in a pinstripe suit and blue tie, and smiled as he appeared with his wife.

European royals appeared to be in high spirits as they attended the congress, where participants reflected on “the reality of Spanish, its past, its present and its future” under the theme “Spanish Language, Miscegenation and Interculturality”. History and Future”.

The Spanish king had delivered a speech celebrating “the great Hispanic gathering.”

And earlier in the week, the Queen made another chic appearance, getting dressed a fitted purple dress while attending a conference in Cadiz with King Felipe.

The Queen beamed all over her face as she opted for the striking plunging V-neck dress.

In addition to ruffles around the chest, the midi dress also featured slightly puffed sleeves and a thigh-high slit down the front.

To match her spring-ready attire, Letizia accessorised her dress with a small £110 leather handbag from Spanish brand Olivia Mareque in the exact same shade of lilac.

But instead of keeping the thick lilac leather strap that comes with the bag, Letizia opted for a £26 alternative with two dainty leather knots either side.

Letizia let her dress take center stage and completed her ensemble with a pair of nude patent slingback heels by Venezuelan designer Carolina Herrera.
