Queenslander fails truck driving test for driving in the wrong lane after an intersection

The Australian fails the driving test because of a common mistake many make – so is it fair enough or too tough?
- The Queensland driver failed the driving test for the heavy rigid license
- Failed to select the wrong lane after an intersection
- Aussies agree the decision was “absolute bulls**t”.
A wannabe truck failed its driving test over a simple maneuver, with many claiming the assessor’s decision was “absolute bullshit”.
The Queensland driver took a practical driving test for his heavy-duty rigid license to operate trucks and buses on Monday.
After the test was completed, the driver was told he had failed due to a “critical driving error” through an intersection in Townsville between Charters Towers, Queens and Ross River Road.
The driver, known as Reddit user Jeneheucysha, shared a video of their mistake and claimed they felt “hard done.”
“I just failed my HR guide exam for pulling that exact maneuver. I want to know if I have the right to feel badly done here,” they wrote.
The video shows the driver traveling down Queens Road in the right-hand lane before crossing into Ross Road.
Queens Road has two lanes before merging into Ross Road, which has three – as an extra lane is being added for vehicles coming from Charters Tower Road.
The driver continues straight ahead and chooses the middle lane as the road splits into three lanes.
“I went into the middle lane since it was the lane directly ahead of me, but apparently I should go into the right lane,” they wrote.
‘He [the assessor] Apart from that, I couldn’t fault my driving and I failed because of that.
“I agree it wasn’t the right maneuver. I just don’t see how this can be a “critical driver error” and fail my entire test on an easy mistake. I literally drove straight.”

The driver failed his driving test because of a “critical driving error” after driving through a Townsville intersection. The frustrated driver shared video (left) of the error, showing them moving from the right-hand lane on Queens Road (right) to the middle lane on Ross Road.
The assessor explained that the proper way to cross the intersection was to stay in the right lane rather than the middle one.
However, the driver tried to argue that by changing lanes in the middle of an intersection, he would be violating another traffic code.
The post received over 200 comments, with many agreeing with the reviewer’s statement that it was “absolute crap”.
“This is absolute bulls**t to me. I watched the video 3 times trying to figure out what you did wrong,” one person wrote.
“I’m not convinced you did anything wrong here. It’s a s***y intersection layout that needs better marking,” commented another person.
‘This is stupid. They just know this tester loves this crossbreed so they can get people to do this,” chimed a third.
However, others joined the reviewer in claiming that while the intersection is poorly designed, the driver made a serious road error.
“Although it’s unfair, I would say it’s a critical driving error. Missing lanes can lead to serious accidents,” one person wrote.

Another person added, “I think it’s a silly crossbreed and I can understand why you’re frustrated… [but] You can’t change lanes at an intersection.’
“If anyone was in that lane, you would have cut them off. “You literally just went straight” and left your lane.”
A third chimed: “Any mistake where you’ve broken the law (even if it’s accidental and due to poor road design) will be an instafail.
“I think it’s debatable whether or not you did the wrong thing…but it makes sense that if it’s the wrong thing it’s a failure.”
The driver hopes to appeal the decision, hoping to resist the test immediately rather than waiting a month and a half for the next available time slot.
