RAF top men “considered stripping Carol Vorderman of her honorary title because of her anti-government tweets”

It has emerged that RAF top brass were considering stripping Carol Vorderman of her honorary degree because of her anti-government tweets.
In addition to being a famous Countdown star, Voderman, 62, is also a proud Air Cadet ambassador and honorary group captain, as noted in her X-Biography (formerly Twitter).
But after he launched a tirade against senior Tory MPs and senior officials thought about hanging them up to dry, The sun reported.
Vorderman has gone to
Vorderman also branded the Tories “a lying band of greedy, corrupt, destructive, hateful, divisive gaslight crooks.”
Ms Cornelius-Mercer hit back at what she described as “ongoing and relentless anti-Tory bullying”.

Vorderman went to X to attack veterans minister Johnny Mercer and his outspoken wife Felicity, as well as Prime Minister Rishi Sunak
The mother of three questioned Chief of the Air Staff, Chief Air Marshal Sir Richard Knighton, whether Vorderman’s tweets were “appropriate behavior for an honorary group captain in the RAF”.
The row sparked panic as top brass were warned that public intervention would be a “disaster” for the RAF.
One reportedly wrote: “I feel like making a formal comment or commitment either way would be a disaster as it’s more of a no-win story.”
“Hanging her out to dry wouldn’t look good, but for the same reason we can’t support what she says as we have to remain politically neutral.”
The Chief of Air Staff raised the dispute with Ms Vorderman’s RAF boss, Air Cadet Commandant Tony Keeling.
Air Commodore Keeling expressed his hope that Ms. Vorderman’s term would expire soon.
Internal emails seen by The Sun show aides left unclear who and how Ms. Vorderman was appointed and what rules she was subject to.
One wrote: “As far as I know there is no audit trail.”
They added: “Subjecting you to the boundaries and restrictions of ACP20.” [code of conduct] can be problematic.’
The emails indicate that Ms. Vorderman remains an ambassador.
Top brass denied she was facing disciplinary action.
And they added: “The political views of any of our employees, whether volunteer or salaried, are a private matter and not a matter of service.”
The RAF declined to comment.
In fact, the feud between Vorderman and Mercer goes way back, as the former Countdown host, 62, was at war with Felicity Cornelius-Mercer, 43, and the Veterans Minister, 41, earlier this year.
In July, she took things a step further this afternoon by sharing a Reel of a series of tweets she sent her.
She wrote: “I have been harassed by Johnny Mercer’s wife for months.” This only covers one day in April + much more abuse elsewhere. I didn’t respond at all. Until he made fun of the military using food banks. She paid around £45,000 in MP costs (+200% pay rise) for this?
In response, Ms. Cornelius-Mercer said she tagged Ms. Vorderman in offensive tweets she sent to her husband to show how she had fueled “terrible traffic” by “telling her followers to do it.” “Targeting MPs.”
She added: “Feel free to pause the scroll and read it.” These hateful comments are sent to us as a direct result of @carolvorder’s ramblings. All I ever did was respond to her nonsense about how she hated all Tories, and that was going on long before I got involved.”
Speaking to LBC, Ms Vorderman said Ms Cornelius-Mercer had sent her “60 tweets” over the course of a day.
“Jonny Mercer’s wife has been harassing me on Twitter for months. One day she sent over 60 tweets. The words she used about my personal life were actually really misogynistic,” she said.
“Honestly, I almost felt like I had to report them, and I found that quite disturbing.”
She added: “It’s like an unhealthy obsession they have.”
The bizarre feud began when Ms Cornelius-Mercer accused Ms Vorderman of being a “celebrity attack dog” who “incites people to hate all Tories”.
